Former Indian Cricketer Dilip Doshi passed away in London, his residence for several decades, due to a cardiac arrest on Monday. The Left- arm spinner with the classic action represented India in 33 Test matches and 15 ODI between 1979 and 1983 and has remarkable outings.
Making his international Test debut at the age of 32, Doshi was deeply inspired by the West Indies legend Garfield Sobers and was among the spin quartets of India in the 1970s. Dilip Doshi has 114 wickets in his 33 test outings including 6 five wicket hauls. Doshi in the ODI format has 22 wickets in the 15 matches maintaining an economy of 3.96.
After clashing personally with the way Indian cricket was turning out in the 1980s, Doshi made a quick exit from International cricket, which he also shared about in his revealing autobiography ‘Spin Punch’.
Infamous for his five- wicket haul in the Melbourne Test of 1981, which was crucial for India’s victory. Doshi played the test with a broken toe and was using Electrolytes every evening to keep down the swelling, a remarkable story about the legend.
