Air India Crash Report: Reveals dark Cockpit recording between Pilots minutes before the crash

The Air India crash killed 260 passengers in Gujarat, India and the cause behind the technical malfunction was revealed by investigators.

The Air India crash report was finalised by the investigators as chilling conversation between the pilots seconds before crash in the preliminary investigation. The crash killed 260 people onboard in June with the initial conclusion behind the accident said to be engine failure.

The report states that just seconds after take-off both the Boeing 787 Dreamliner’s fuel-control switches turned from ‘Run’ to ‘Cut-off’ position, which is usually done by the pilots post landing.

The 15 page report was submitted in the early hours of Saturday by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) which is currently probing the crash. The report also revealed a chilling recording from the cockpit where one pilot asked, “Why did you cut off?” pointing at the fuel control switches. The question was responded to by another pilot who said that he did not cut off the control.

The Cut off transition which turned off the fuel supply to the plane could be the reason behind the crash of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on June 12.

Although moments later the fuel control system was turned back on from Cut-off to Run, indicating that the pilots tried to salvage the situation, read the report from Enhanced Airborne Flight Recorders (EAFR).

“When fuel control switches are moved from CUTOFF to RUN while the aircraft is in flight, each engine’s full authority dual engine control (FADEC) automatically manages a relight and thrust recovery sequence of ignition and fuel introduction,” the report stated.

The EAFR report recording turned off right after the initial conversation between the pilots and as soon after one of them transmitted a MAYDAY call
