New Annual FASTag details announced by Union Minister of Road: 200 trips at INR 3000

Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways announces a new yearly plan for FASTag for four wheelers from August 2025.

In a major step towards modernisation of India’s Roadways, the union minister of Road, Transport and Highways has announced a yearly FASTag pass from August. The announcement was made on 18 June.

In announcing the Annual FASTag fee, the Union Minister also commented on the satellite- based toll system and said, “This is to clarify that no such decision has been taken by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways or National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) regarding the nationwide implementation of satellite-based tolling from 1st May 2025”.

FASTag Annual Pass Cost and Starting Date

According to the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, “In a transformative step towards hassle-free highway travel, we are introducing a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at ₹3,000, effective from 15th August 2025. Valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips – whichever comes first.”

Annual FASTag Usage and Benefits

“This pass is designed exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. The Annual Pass will enable seamless and cost-effective travel across National Highways throughout the country. A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be made available on the Rajmarg Yatra App as well as on the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH,” Gadkari said.

The Annual Toll Pass scheme is introduced to ensure stress free toll collection and simplify the road travel in the National Highways. The scheme will also address the persistent grievance regarding tolls located less than 60 km and the wait time of the commuters.

“This policy addresses long-standing concerns regarding toll plazas located within a 60 km range and simplifies toll payments through a single, affordable transaction. By reducing wait times, easing congestion, and minimising disputes at toll plazas, the annual pass aims to deliver a faster and smoother travel experience for millions of private vehicle owners,” Gadkari added.
