Dharma Productions has conjured their dreamy and magical vibe to the Cannes Film Festival as the cast and crew arrived in style. ‘Homebound’ helmed by Neeraj Ghaywan starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jhetwa and Janhvi Kapoor has made it to the screening at the prestigious film festival.
The cast and crew along with the fashionista producer Karan Johar were snapped in style. ‘Homebound’ also has veteran director Martin Scorscese as the executive producer. Karan Johar joins Adar Poonawaala, Apoorva Mehta, Soman Mishra in producing the film, something that stood out from the initial vision to the making as Scorscese himself was excited about Neeraj Ghaywan’s next project after watching the haunting ‘Masaan’, which also premiered at Cannes.
‘Homebound’ is a story of brotherhood in the face of societal divisions such as caste, religion in India. The two main characters – Shoaib Ali and Chandan Kumar are fighting to break free from their identity as ‘marginalised’ and work towards getting a constable job, one which they think or hope will make their lives better. The dignity and respect that they and everyone deserves is chased through the vessel of getting the job where Chandan meets Sudha Bharti who urges him to pursue education instead. Shoaib is burdened with financial troubles on top of his father’s ailments.

Janhvi Kapoor
Actress Janhvi Kapoor debuted at the 78th Cannes Film Festival wearing a custom Tarun Tahiliani couture – a soft and silky tissue ensemble. The skirt and corset outfit crafted and woven in Benaras adds the touch of India and also has a TT drape. The look was styled by Rhea Kapoor.
For her second look Janhvi Kapoor truly slayed with a backless couture dress by Anamika Khanna, also styled by Rhea Kapoor. The heavy bodice is literally backed by a string of traditional Indian archival jewelry and a long mint train.
Karan Johar
A fashion icon and a multi- faceted Karan Johar stepped out in a regal monotone ensemble with a custom Manish Malhotra ivory bandhgala embroidery suit with jacquard collar. With an ivory shirt and a ruffled collar and cuff, Karan Johar was the moment. Wild animal brooches from Manish Malhotra only elevated the look.
For his second look, Karan Johar wore and paid a tribute to Rohit Bal after previously wearing a flattering Maison Valentino.
Vishal Jhetwa
The young talent is making his debut at Cannes and what a way to announce his presence other than stealing the fashion spotlight. Vishal Jhetwa wore a custom Kaushik Velendra suit with a raised and detailed intricate shoulder pad embellishment. It is the small but eye-catching bird accessory detail that was praised.
Ishaan Khatter
Channeling the royalness from his last show, Ishaan Khatter wore a custom Gaurav Gupta outfit – a Deep Bordeaux Velvet Bandhgala. With black zardozi celtic knot pattern gracing the bodice in the high collared jacket.
