The phenomena of Artificial Intelligence taking over current trends and way of life with students and techies depending on the advancement, the CEO of Open AI, Sam Altman gets his honest opinion on ChatGPT and AI.
A Wall Street Journal survey in 2023 revealed that nearly 90% of the students use ChatGPT for their education and essays. While such stats put a bright reliance, Sam Altman now says that ChatGPT cannot be fully trusted as AI can hallucinate and tend to not give the most accurate results.
AI Chatbots have the tendency to hallucinate, that is it can make up their own information, Altman said in the first podcast of OpenAI. “People have a very high degree of trust in ChatGPT, which is interesting, because AI hallucinates. It should be the tech that you don’t trust that much.”
The disadvantages of AI Chatbots are multiple from biased training data, the predictive text generation, lack of real life knowledge. All AI Chatbots are prone to hallucinations and the lack of inbuilt knowledge and data collection range doesn’t help with that issue. The responses are based on probability and not truth and people who demand to crunch down the data are almost provided the probable response and not the correct or accurate ones.
Now more than ever students rely on the Chatbots more than textbook and are keen on providing conditions suggested by the AI techs that are neither fully reliable nor pertain to the accuracy of the response drafted. The system of AI is flawed and needs specifications to get even the known information from the get go.
How to utilize ChatGPT in general
Always fact check with multiple sources and get the reading time and trusted sources suggested by the response with brief checking.
Engage your idea and thought before generating the response, ChatGPT replicates your comments and not necessarily replaces crucial aspects, but hallucinates and adds made up information.
Using AI for a detailed process of learning doesn’t necessarily provide the knowledge and wisdom one can gain with single prompt, designed responses.
Know the limitations of the technology and use it for gathering information for understanding rather than relying on it for accuracy or submissions that are nuanced.
