India made a winning beginning to their ICC Champions Trophy campaign last night with a phenomenal victory over Bangladesh by six wickets in Dubai on 20th February 2025.
Set to be a much needed game to get the tournament going, India’s bowlers were clinical in restricting Bangladesh through early struggles such that Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali solidly buoyed the innings. Their efforts ensured Bangladesh moved to 228 which proved competitive.
Opening under floodlights, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill started solidly with a 50-run stand. Although they kept losing wickets from time to time, Gill carried on to anchor the chase with a breath-taking century,it was his eighth in ODIs-sealing victory with 21 balls of spare runs.
