On the occasion of actor Suriya’s 50th birthday, the makers of ‘Karuppu’ have dropped the teaser of the anticipated folklore spiritual movie. Directed by RJ Balaji, ‘Karuppu’ has been making waves in and out with the mysterious hype around the story.
‘Karuppu’ like RJ Balaji’s ‘Mookuthi Amman’ follows a spiritual tone as Suriya plays the role of a lawyer who doesn’t stand injustice and turns to be a guardian to the public. The teaser is filled with actor Suriya’s presence, from a close up introduction shot to call back to a trending Gajini meme, ‘Karuppu’ paints the teaser as a tribute to the actor.
Suriya is playing the role of Saravanan alias Karuppu, a lawyer who is introduced after a fierce introduction to the famous Tamil deity ‘Karuppu’. The stellar introduction combined with the facets of how the deity is perceived gives the necessary hype for Suriya’s role. Several massy and racy shots of Suriya followed with a character trait of delivering instance justice draws the correlation between the deity and the characteristic of Sravanan.
Makers have seemingly kept the other prominent characters a mystery, especially Trisha’s which didn’t make the teaser cut. The film was supposedly revealed to be a female led film yet there is no leakage about her character who was earlier rumoured to be playing a lawyer as well. The rest of the cast also include Indrans, Shhivada, Natarajan, Swastika, Yogi Babu and others.

Sai Abhyankkar, the young music director who is sensationally taking over the South Indian industry, booking projects in bunch has certainly delivered an effective background score, along the veins of village folklore style drums. Produced by Dream Warrior Pictures, ‘Karuppu’ has a screenplay written by Ashwin Ravichandran, Rahul Raj, T. S. Gopi Krishnan and Karan Aravind Kumar. The release date of the movie is yet to be confirmed.
