Donald Trump slams 100% Tariff on Non- American Production – Indian Cinema’s ‘Pan Global’ Releases under distress?

US President Donald Trump has shockingly announced a 100% Tariff over Foreign films that are not produced in the US to revive ‘Hollywood’

During the ongoing tariff talks with other nations, US President Donald Trump in a shocking move has announced 100% tariffs on movies that are made outside of the USA. The announcement has developed conversations and debates as the country has been a host of diverse movie productions and releases for years.

Donald Trump accused that the other language movies are undermining Hollywood and using cinema as their propaganda tool in America. The president also said he was authorising the US Department of Commerce and Trade Representative to start the process of levying the taxes.

According to the second president, Hollywood is dying ‘a very fast death’. Posting it on his social media page, Donald Trump stated, “WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!”

Although Trump’s move has been making waves, details on how these tariffs will be progressed is unclear. The post also has the vague statement, “instituting a 100% Tariff on any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands”. This leaves a gap of question that major upcoming Hollywood productions and the ones that were Global hits were produced outside the US soil.

Movies like Gladiator II, Wicked, Deadpool & Wolverine were produced outside of America while the upcoming movies like Marvel who recently moved to the UK, Nolan’s ‘Odyssey’ are fully under production out of America too. This also includes ‘Avatar 4’, ‘Star Wars’ among the list of high end iconic American franchises, uncertain whether included in the tariffs.

Many Indian movies from Telugu, Tamil, Hindi are releasing in regular intervals in America and have been relying on the popularity and collection for a Pan Global success. The rule is also unclear on whether movies from other regions and their streaming will also be taxed or not is yet to be cleared.
