A young doctor in Kerala has filed a complaint with The Thrikkakara police in Ernakulam district that Malayalam rapper Vedan has abused her physically after promising marriage in their relationship and was mentally abusing her.
The complaint led to the rapper being booked by the police who approached the deputy commissioner of police on Wednesday. The woman’s statement was filed and further investigation began. The complaint reportedly recalled incidents that happened a few years ago with one of the abuses happening in Thrikkakara, leading the woman to file a complaint in the area.
Who is Rapper Vedan?
Known popularly by his stage name Vedan, Hirandas Murali is a popular rapper with multiple successful stage shows and concerts and a growing figure in the Indie rap circle for years. This is not the first time that Rapper Vedan has been involved in legal woes as several controversies from his professional front, his lyrics and opinions and for his personal involvements with drug misuse.
A woman BJP leader in May, had filed a complaint against the rapper, accusing him of defaming PM Modi in a song. His songs and lyrics are disapproved by many for citing and discussing caste discriminations in Kerala and many think that the issue is not prevalent.
Rapper Vedan and his 8 friends were also booked in April 2025 for holding 6 grams of Ganja in their residence in Kochi. After bailing out, the rapper expressed regret and guilt for using drugs and his involvement with narcotics.
