71st National Film Awards: Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, and More Shine in Indian Cinema

From Shah Rukh Khan’s gripping role in Jawan to regional cinema’s shining moments, the 71st National Film Awards honored the finest in Indian filmmaking.

The 71st National Film Awards were announced recently in New Delhi, celebrating the best of Indian cinema. This year, the awards brought joy and recognition to actors, filmmakers, and many talented people behind the scenes.

The Best Actor award was shared by Shah Rukh Khan for his powerful role in Jawan and Vikrant Massey for his performance in 12th Fail. Rani Mukerji won the Best Actress award for her impressive acting in Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway. The Hindi film Kathal took the Best Film award, standing out among many strong contenders.

The awards also celebrated the rich variety of regional cinema. Films from Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, and Assamese languages received honors for their unique stories and quality. Some notable winners were Bhagavanth Kesari (Telugu), Parking (Tamil), Shyamchi Aai (Marathi), and Rongatapu 1982 (Assamese).

Special mentions included Hanu-Man for best action direction, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani for best choreography, and Sam Bahadur, which won several awards including best makeup and best production design.

The awards also honoured the many talented people working behind the scenes — music directors, screenplay writers, editors, and child artists — showing how much teamwork is involved in making great films.

The jury submitted their report to the Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The 71st National Film Awards truly celebrate the diversity and creativity of Indian cinema, reminding us of the magic of storytelling that connects audiences everywhere.
