Uttar Pradesh has approved new labour rules requiring covered private establishments with at least 10 employees to provide appointment letters. The framework also strengthens workplace health, safety, welfare and protections for women working night shifts.

India’s first dedicated high-speed railway test track is nearing completion in Rajasthan. The 59-km broad-gauge facility between Gudha and Thathana Mithri is designed for rolling-stock trials of up to 220 kmph. Developed by RDSO at a cost of ₹967.07 crore, the track will test Vande Bharat trainsets and other railway equipment for speed, braking, stability, signalling and infrastructure performance.

North Eastern Railway operated its longest-ever freight train, ‘Awadh Mahashakti’, by combining three freight rakes with 129 empty BCN wagons and three locomotives. The train covered about 160 km from Gonda to Sitapur in 3 hours and 50 minutes while saving two train paths.
