RTE Gujarat Form 2026 Guide: Last Date, Required Documents And Seat Details Explained

Parents in Gujarat now have a short but important window to apply under the Right to Education quota for the 2026–27 session. The official RTE Gujarat portal has opened online applications from April 4, 2026 to April 17, 2026, and this year the state has made more than 84,000 seats available in private schools for eligible children seeking admission in Class 1.

Last Date For RTE Gujarat Form 2026

The biggest point parents should note is the deadline. The admission notice on the official Gujarat RTE portal says forms can be filled only between 04/04/2026 and 17/04/2026. Missing this window can shut the door on the first round itself. News reports also confirm that the 2026 cycle began on April 4 with the same closing date.

How Many Seats Are Available This Year

Gujarat has announced over 84,000 RTE seats this year across private schools. Reports show the medium-wise split is roughly 41,000+ seats in Gujarati medium, 40,262 in English medium, 2,235 in Hindi, and 320 in other mediums. This time, parents also get a new option to choose a morning or afternoon shift where available, which has become one of the most talked-about changes in the current admission cycle.

Required Documents Parents Should Keep Ready

The official documents page makes it clear that parents should prepare proofs before starting the form. Basic documents include address proof, such as Aadhaar card, passport, electricity bill, water bill, or election card. If none of these exist, a registered rent agreement may be accepted, but a notarized rent agreement is not valid. The portal also lists category-based uploads such as birth certificate, income proof, caste certificate where applicable, passport-size photograph, and parent or guardian signature specimen. A fresh notice on the portal also says applicants without PAN, or those not filing income tax returns, must upload the required self-declaration form.

Where To Check School And Seat Availability

Parents should not guess school availability. The official Gujarat RTE school list page shows each school’s location, medium, total seats, 25% quota, and available seats. That makes it easier to compare nearby options before locking preferences. The process remains online, followed by document verification and computerized allotment.
