Kerala Rain Death Toll Rises After Nilambur Flash Flood
The most serious incident was reported from the Nilambur area of Malappuram, where a sudden rise in the Kottapuzha River swept away six people near TK Colony. Five bodies have since been recovered, while rescuers continue looking for one resident who remains missing.
Officials said the river rose rapidly after heavy rainfall in forested areas upstream. Search work was difficult on Sunday evening because of strong currents and poor visibility, but teams resumed operations on Monday as water levels began falling.
