Both the pious and an adventure seeking traveler would love to visit this place Kailash Mansarovar, at least once in their lifetime. Because such places will shape a person both physically and mentally stronger and wiser. Due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and the border tensions between India and China the journey/Yatra has been halted for five years. After the mutual agreement between these two nations, it is officially declared that tourism in Mansarovar will begin in 2025.
Kailash Mansarovar Yatra
This yatra is considered to be a sacred pilgrimage carried out by the believers or followers of Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Bon.
When does the Yatra begin?
According to the Ministry of External Affairs the pilgrimage will take place from June to August 2025 via two routes. They are Lipulekh Pass which is located in Uttarakhand and Nathu La Pass in Sikkim. But if you wish, you can go with the help of private tour operators who are registered properly with the license.
Who is Eligible?
On the official website of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra the government has listed out the eligible tourists/travelers for this yatra,
- Must be a citizen of India.
- Must possess an Indian passport valid for a minimum 6 months as on 1st September of the current year.
- The age should be minimum 18 and maximum 70 years as on 01 January of the current year.
- Body Mass Index (BMI) of 25 or less.
- Physically fit and medically healthy for undertaking the Yatra for religious purposes.
- Foreign nationals are not eligible to apply; OCI card holders are, thus, not eligible.
How to apply?
- Visit the official website: kmy.gov.in
- Fill out the online application form with accurate details.
- Upload required documents: recent passport-size photograph and scanned copy of a valid Indian passport.
- Submit a medical fitness certificate as per official guidelines.
- Pay the registration fee online.
- Then you need to wait for confirmation and selection declaration.Â
What will happen in the selection process?
The Ministry of External Affairs will carry out a computer-generated and gender proportional process for the identity verification of the applicants.
