One of the most fun and entertaining franchises ‘Hera Pheri’ began production for its third film edition, leaving fans in excitement. During filming, rumours of several disputes and contradictions between actors and production were put out and now, much to fans’ dismay, actor Paresh Rawal has stepped out of the cast of ‘Hera Pheri 3’.
Paresh Rawal’s surprising stepping away from the ‘Hera Pheri 3’ sets has clearly ensued discrepancies in the production as Akshay Kumar who is also producing the movie has now followed him with a lawsuit, pointing Rawal for reportedly ‘sabotaging the film’. Times Now reports that Akshay Kumar has sent the legal notice through his production house, Cape of Good Films, demanding 25 Crores from the veteran actor.
Hindustan Times reported that the reason for the ‘Kesari’ actor to sue Rawal was “for grossly unprofessional conduct” that too after signing the legal contract for filming. While the news of a lawsuit filed against Paresh Rawal surfaced, the ‘Welcome’ actor clarified his stand on leaving the sets of ‘Hera Pheri 3’ last week.
Rawal’s X post on 18 May read, “I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER . I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director.”
While the filming of the successful franchise movie was planned to be in April 2025 with the main cast of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suneil Shetty teamed up for the announcement, Rawal’s departure now brings several anecdotes and whispers about his pay and other differences of opinion on set, it was declined by the actor.
“Paresh displayed a blatant disregard for professional integrity or commercial morality. If he wanted to not do the film, he should have said so before signing the legal contract, accepting the signing amount and making the producer spend so much money on the shoot,” reported Hindustan Times from a source close to the legal proceedings.
Notably Akshay Kumar has been doing films for over three decades with the actor or from the producer perspective has not sued his co-stars before. The same cannot be said about Paresh Rawal as he has a history of quitting and stepping away from movies before – ‘Oh My God 2’, ‘Billu Barber’ among them.
While fans were excited to witness a third edition of the ‘meme popular’ franchise with Priyadharshan’s ‘Hera Pheri 3’, the fresh legal soup doesn’t necessarily reflect the funny, lighthearted energy the franchise itself held over the period.
