It is both a historic and a significant event in the life of skipper Temba Bavuma who was born in Langa, a township near Cape Town. Breaking all the regular patterns in the selection of South Africa’s National which was dominated by the White players reportedly broke out as the chief issues in the association. Amidst all these tumultuous debates over his selection into the national team & his place within the team and situations that was testing the saturation point of his as a player, Bavuma became the first black African Captain of South Africa in 2021. Also, he is the first black African batter to register a century for SA in the test format. His electrifying performances are often interrupted by the inconsistency and injuries that plagued his career but he fought harder than his peers for a profound recognition.
Bavuma emerged as an icon for the young and energetic players who are looking up to shine with their unique talents by fighting back against all the odds like him.
