South Africa wins their Maiden World Test Championship! Bavuma stays undefeated in Tests

The Proteas finally get their hands on the World Test Championship after 4 Days of absolute showcase of skills, Temba Bavuma wins the historic win after decades of wait.

A phenomenal win as cheers erupt at Lord’s as South Africa wins their maiden World Test Championship victory. Temba Bavuma brings the glorious and historic win, a powerful win that boiled down from two years of extraordinary test cricket.

4 Days of tense cricket, the final straw of the WTC tournament 2025 Final and South Africa pulled through tough situations, stayed put and took a stance, laid out great partnerships to claim the title. The game after Australia put up a 282, a monumental game at best yet Markram and Temba Bavuma’s reliable partnership.

Stopping Australia’s gameplay with a conscious innings played by Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma’s matured captaincy, handling pressure and bouncing back from getting beaten by the Australian pace attack. Pat Cummins, the Australian skipper who is dethroned by the Proteas tried his luck in turning the field to work for his pace attack and using Nathan Layon in key moments, slowing the momentum.

Australia’s bowling pack is well known for their attacking bowling which worked positively at early stages, only for Aiden Markram to rise as the saviour to score an absolutely needed century and following it through to anchor the inning on Day 4 is the testament for the victory.

South Africa’s performance in the first innings was impressive yet it was the batting pitch at Lord’s that was utilised by the South African batters, much by Markram who although slowed against Lyon, played an instrumental role in getting the team towards the win, not alone as Bavuma bringing hope and delivering success, maintaining his unbeaten Test record intact.

The Proteas at several stages came close to winning yet ghosts of near misses and a drought of a long 27 years now got over the line and clinged the trophy. South Africa has played and hustled for the trophy multiple times including playing 12 Semi Finals. 2 Quarter Finals and 1 Finals and finally winning in 2025 is an epic win for the protease.
