ICC Women’s ODI Rankings: Smriti Mandhana back in No.1 after 5 Years as Wolvaardt drops to Two

India’s Smriti Mandhana swiftly moved to No.1 in the ICC ODI Batting rankings after South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt dropped to second place.

The ICC ODI Women’s Rankings has several changes as India’s Smriti Mandhana has moved to No.1 position after 5 long years. Mandhana takes on the spot of South African player Laura Wolvaardt after her low scoring performance in the ongoing series against West Indies. 

Smriti Mandhana was last at the top of the ICC Batting list in 2019 now returns to the spot with 727 points while Wolvaardt who was the top seed for six months is now tied to the second spot with England’s Natalia Sciver-Burnt. The South Africa v West Indies series has significantly shuffled the rankings including South Africa’s Tazmin Brits who is now 5 positions high at 27. 

Suné Luus, the format Proteas captain, scored an impressive 72 that placed her at 42nd, a 7 spot climb. On the West Indies side, opener Qiana Joseph also made progress by skipping 12 positions to reach 60th position.
