Actor and Producer Dheeraj Kumar dies of Acute Pneumonia at 79

Hindi actor and Producer Dheeraj Kumar passed away in Mumbai at the age of 79 after battling acute pneumonia on Tuesday.

Veteran Hindi actor and Producer Dheeraj Kumar has passed away in Mumbai after being admitted for battling pneumonia at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in critical condition. The 79 year actor was on ventilator support before succumbing to his health issues. 

“Dheeraj Kumar is under the close supervision of doctors and is undergoing treatment. The family is praying for his speedy recovery and also requests everyone to maintain his privacy during this difficult time”, a statement from the actor’s family and production team said before his passing away. 

A popular face in the 1970s and 80s, Dheeraj Kumar, originally known as Dheeran Kochar was a part of many successful projects and played key roles in titles like Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, Swami, Kranti, and Heera Panna. His career also stretched to the Punjabi film industry, where he collaborated with many leading actors of the time. 

Dheeraj Kumar’s production company, Creative Eye Limited is also well known for its work in Television industry. Dheeraj was successful in running many long running TV shows that are mostly devotional and spiritual in nature like Om Namah Shivay, Shree Ganesh, Jai Santoshi Maa, and Jap Tap Vrat. These shows were known for their engaging storytelling and spiritual themes, reaching wide audiences across India.

There is yet to be an official confirmation note from the actor/ producer’s death from his family.
