The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that Nepal will be hosting the qualifiers of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The 21- day event will be conducted in two venues with 10 teams playing for the top 4 spots.
The England and Wales venues will be hosting the latter part of the summit event later the year. The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 will have Ireland and Bangladesh confirmed for the qualifiers from the automatic qualification from their presence in the 2024 T20 World Cup held in Dubai where New Zealand was crowned the champions.
The 8 teams will be confirming their qualification spots by way of regional qualifiers, with two teams each from Africa, Asia and Europe and one team each from the East Asia-Pacific and the Americas regions completing the lineup.
From Asia, Thailand and Nepal have confirmed their spots while USA has confirmed their presence, representing the Americas. This makes the total number of teams already qualified to five including Bangladesh and Ireland, with the remaining five still to be confirmed.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 qualifiers will be happening from 12 January to 2 February 2026 at Mulpani and Kathmandu while the marquee event will take place in England and Wales from 12 June to 5 July.
The entire tournament will consist of 5 teams in two groups playing a Super Six stage and then to the Final. The new competition will have 12 teams competing for the trophy over the course of 24 days, 33 matches will be played across seven venues, including Old Trafford Cricket Ground (Manchester), Headingley (Leeds), Hampshire Bowl (Southampton), and Bristol County Ground.
