The Indian Premier League (IPL) is suspended Midway due to the unsettling political tension and a possible war situation in India. Fans anticipated for the qualifiers and a couple of league stage matches yet to happen, the Indian Cricket Council has announced the suspension of IPL effective immediately.
The decision was made after BCCI officials and the Indian government authorities held a meeting which discussed the possibilities of conducting such a packed public gathering. The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals which was set to happen in Dharamshala was stopped after 10 overs due to Black Out drill. The match was further dropped without any result.
The current rift between the two neighboring countries has created tension that has now affected transportation, flights and even many fatal attacks on the borders. The official statement from The Indian Cricket Team page read, “Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been SUSPENDED.”
The foreign players and support staff are planned to be sent back which will be taken care of by the BCCI. Many foreign players, especially Australian players, have reportedly contacted their agents back home sharing their concern and tension about staying in India and talking about the possible travel plans, reported the Free Press Journal.
While the IPL is now postponed without any further notice of resuming, PSL (Pakistan Super League) has been shifted from Pakistan to the UAE.
