Italy and Netherlands through to ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup set for 2026 now has two new qualifiers as both Netherlands and Italy have passed the test.

The Europe Qualifiers for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ended with an interesting qualification as Italy and the Netherlands teams have qualified for the tournament. A roller-coaster ride in Europe had close chances of being qualified only Italy and Netherlands had their name of the marquee event. 

It is the first time for Italy to be qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup tournament and although Netherlands won the match, Italy’s net run assured them a position. After being restricted to 134/7, Italy only had to hold on Netherlands for 15 overs to have a step in the qualification line. 

The visitors made sure to stretch the match till the 17th over with Michael Levitt and Max O’Dowd playing a major part. Although both the teams have booked their tickets to India and Sri Lanka for the World Cup tournament. 

“I don’t think words will ever describe emotions to this team and to this country. Sacrifice, dedication and commitment to a dream—we have walked this path into the unknown together to tour the first World Cup,” Joe Burns, Italian Cricketer said after qualifying.
