Prime Minister Narendra Modi surpassed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s tenure on Friday, 25 July 2025 by serving as the PM of India for 4079 days. In his third term, Modi’s growing tenure only reflects his growing following and credit in the Indian political landscape.Â
Modi took his first oath on 26 May 2014 and is currently on a two-day diplomatic tour in Maldives. Indira Gandhi was the second longest serving Prime Minister of India, serving for 4078 days followed by her father Jawaharlal Nehru, who served for 5871 days. Modi has also become the longest serving Non- congress Prime Minister of India.Â
