‘Operation Sindoor’ Update – Why the Name? Military Strike at Midnight received Appreciation

The Indian Military exercised its right to attack and prevent terrorism and strikes back into multiple terror bases in Pakistan under ‘Mission Sindoor’.

‘Operation Sindoor’: 9 cities and terror bases in Pakistan were attacked by the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor post midnight on 7 May 2025. Several banned terrorist organisations Jaish -e- Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen were targeted and attacked Pakistan and PoK.

The operation was planned to attack four terror bases inside Pakistan and 5 bases in Pakistan occupied Kashmir as a repercussions for the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack that took the lives of 26 innocent civilian lives.

‘Operation Sindoor’ is named to payback for the cries and loss of several married women who lost their husbands in the Pahalgam Attack. Sindoor is the indication of the vermillion worn by married women, thus named as a justice for their loss. The coordinated attack comprises Indian Navy, Army and Air Force to execute a ‘focused measured and non- escalatory’ attack that is carefully planned to ignore the neighboring army’s installations.

India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri debriefed about ‘Operation Sindoor’ on Wednesday along with Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. Speaking to the media, Mr Vikram Misri stated, “This morning, India exercised its right to respond to, prevent, and resist cross-border attacks. This action is measured, non-escalatory, proportional, and responsible. It focuses on eliminating terrorist infrastructure and incapacitating potential terrorists being sent into India. You may also recall that on April 25, 2025, the United Nations Security Council issued a press statement regarding the Pahalgam terrorist attack, emphasizing the need to hold the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of this heinous act accountable and bring them to justice. India’s action today should be viewed in this context.”

The attack was deemed essential as Indian intel reported of other planned attacks over India in the coming months, said the officials in the press meet. The mission is also an exercised right of the Indian Defence Ministry as a fortnight after the fatal Pahalgam attack, India has responded to the perpetrator’s terrorist act.

Among the bases attacked were the terrorists involved in the 2008 Mumbai attack, Pahalgam Attack and other cruel terror acts in the past years were training and laying camp. “These camps were selected based on credible intelligence inputs and role in perpetrating terror”, briefed Colonel Sophia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vymoika Singh.
