President Droupadi Murmu on Friday has boarded to fly and attend the HH Pope Francis’ Funeral in the Vatican City. Official reports posted from X, suggest that Murmu will be accompanied by Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, George Kurian; and Deputy Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Joshua De Souza.

“President Droupadi Murmu departs for Vatican City to attend the State Funeral of HH Pope Francis,” read the post from the President’s secretariat. Her two day visit to the Vatican City will be a sign of honoring and paying final tributes by laying a wreath during his funeral at Saint Peter Basilica.
Pope Francis was the first Latin Pope and the Non- European pope in over 1,300 years, passed away due to health complications on Monday fol lowing Easter 2025. His funeral in the Vatican City will be attended by World Dignitaries and diplomats.
