The 2025 IPL Finals is certainly remarkable for the RCB fans as the team which has been yearning for a trophy finally won their maiden one this year. Beating Punjab Kings in the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad Stadium, the team then planned to celebrate the win with the Bengaluru fans in their home ground.
The victory parade is nor strange to any sports fan but RCB’s victory parade had an unfortunate turn out as the fans flooded the streets and the roads near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, so much that the Karnataka police couldn’t control. This resulted in a Stampede that took the lives of 11 people and injured over 50.
Regarding this incident a case has been filed with four RCB Officials arrested for planning and lack of conscious execution in preparing for a stampede. The FIR copy which ESPNcricinfo had seen had the police claiming “(Police) denied RCB permission to conduct the events at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, around which the stampede occurred leading to casualties. RCB were listed as the first accused in the FIR, along with DNA Entertainment, the franchise’s event partners, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), which is in charge of the Chinnaswamy Stadium.”
The FIR was based on a complaint registered by Girish AK, a police inspector in Cubbon Park Division under six sections. The police also claimed that due to the duty around the Bengaluru stadium till 5.30 AM on 4 June, the large crowd control was not advised.
