Rohit Sharma has turned 38! What an inspiring journey, beginning from a humble home in Mumbai to setting unprecedented records through hard work, leadership, and match-winning performances.

Rohit Sharma, the ‘Hitman’, celebrates his 38th birthday today. Born and bred in Mumbai, he started playing cricket at a very tender age and worked extremely hard to earn a place among the stars of Indian cricket. Today he is known for his long sixes, calm captaincy, and numerous cricket records. Let us take a look at his inspirational journey.

From Beginnings Infused with Humility

Beneath and above, Nagpur was Rohit’s birthplace, but he was nurtured in the full aspire of Mumbai and the mother-wash comforts. His father was a transporter, and his grandparents brought up Rohit in Borivali. In 2007, Rohit Sharma made his international debut. It took some time for him to cement his place in the team, after which there had been no looking back for him. Some of the major landmarks include-

  • ODI Records. With a score of 264 in an ODI, which still stands as an unbroken record, he is the only player in the world to have scored 3 double centuries in ODI history.
  • T20I adventures. He is the first man to hit 4 centuries in T20 Internationals and has hit the most number of sixes by an Indian in this format.
  • Mumbai Indians: The team lifted the IPL trophy five times -2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020- under his captaincy. He has become one of the most successful captains in IPL history.

Team India: He became only the second captain in Indian cricket history to lead the team to historic glory in the T20 World Cup 2024. Shortly, he retired, though, from international cricket in short formats, leading the side in ODIs and Tests.

Honors and Recognition

However, his road was not only about runs and trophies. He has also received:

  • The Arjuna Award in 2015.
  • The prestigious Khel Ratna for the year 2020.
