Artist Creates Unique Portrait of Sachin Tendulkar
This beautiful portrait was created by a very skillful painter, Stuart Pearson Wright, of Sachin Tendulkar. The peculiarity of this painting is that it was developed based on a photograph which was taken by the artist in his house 18 years ago. The technique that Pearson Wright employed in the creation of this masterpiece is a special technique known as oil on abraded aluminium.
The portrait of Sachin Tendulkar displays only the head and shoulders of the cricket player, although it is a significantly oversized version of himself, unlike other portraits of cricketers in the collection. This makes the painting very powerful and impressive. By placing an abstract background to the portrait of Sachin Tendulkar, the artist wanted to portray that the cricket legend does not belong to a certain epoch or a certain era, but belongs to all times and all places.
Stuart Pearson Wright has painted cricket legend before. He has already made portraits of other well known Indian cricketers such as Kapil Dev, Bishan Singh Bedi and Dilip Vengsarkar. but he desired to make the portrait of Sachin Tendulkar original and special and so, he has selected this particular style head-and-shoulders.
