Puducherry based model and pageant queen Sans Rachel, 25 died by suicide after over dosing on Blood Pressure medicines at her home in Karamanikuppam on Sunday. The well-known model’s death shook the internet.
Shanakarapriya aka Sans Rachel has several pageant titles under her name from Miss Dark Queen Tamil Nadu (2019), Miss Pondicherry (2020-2021) to Miss World in the Black Beauty Category. Rachel went on to work as a model and in advertisements.
The police reported that Rachel took around 50 Blood Pressure pills and was admitted to the JIPMER hospital on 5 June. She had apparently written a suicide note that stated that her husband and her mother-in-law were not responsible for her death, an OneIndia report said.
Following investigations revealed that she was under financial stress after taking huge loans and debts for conducting fashion events and shows, as the investigation is yet to pinpoint a reason. The Urulayanpet police are conducting the investigation.
Rachel famously spoke against colourism and bias in the country for darker skin tone after winning her pageant titles. She also worked actively on advocating for safety for women and cornering the ‘fair’ skin tone stereotype.
