Tamil cinema is high on anticipation for the upcoming Suriya – RJ Balaji collaboration, now titled ‘Karuppu’. The title poster was released on Friday and the internet is celebrating the reveal as RJ Balaji, who among many other things also directed a spiritual social satire film ‘Mookuthi Amman’ is following the tracks with ‘Karuppu’.
Titled ‘Karuppu’ the movie has already revealed the complete cast and crew involved with Trisha announced as the female lead along with actor Suriya who is said to have played a dual role in the film. Not an official announcement but industry trackers have speculated that Suriya will be playing a lawyer and the role of lord Ayyanar.
RJ Balaji has been successful in all his streaks from a Radio Jockey, actor, commentator, director and has now taken up writing for ‘Karuppu’. The collaboration was out of the blue and an interesting one to look for.

Actor Suriya is known for his layered and seasoned performances, taking on socially conscious roles on and off screen. The movie is believed to have themes of political commentary, social justice, caste oppression, a strong message film as the title poster exudes intensity.
‘Karuppu’ will also be a courtroom drama, something Suriya has nailed in the past with a similar theme in ‘Jai Bhim’, one of the finest movies in Tamil Cinema. It will also be interesting to see how the rest of the cast will be playing that includes Natarajan, Yogi Babu, Sshivadha, Swasika, Indrans and many more.
Young music composer Sai Abhyankkar replaced the legendary AR Rahman for the film, who was initially signed up. The movie is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures and will be expecting a release by the end of 2025.
