Mani Ratnam’s multi starrer gangster drama ‘Thug Life’ is releasing on 5 June worldwide, but people and fans in Tamil Nadu might get an earlier peek into the film as the government of Tamil Nadu has approved for a special early show at 9 am.
The movie produced by Madras Talkies, Raaj Kamal Films International and Red Giant Movies now also faces a backlash not just theoretically but financially too as the makers forgo the release of the movie in Karnataka.
Actor Kamal Hassan’s statement regarding the birth of Kannada language from Tamil language had triggered a huge wave of opposition from the Kannada film chamber and the government of Karnataka who are curbing the release.
As per an OneIndia report, the makers of Thug Life will be facing a loss of 12 crore to 15 crore from the release skipping in the Karnataka theatres. Despite this the fans and public are with Kamal Hassan’s statement and backing the star with even an hashtag trending in ‘X’ – #IStandWithKamalHaasan.
The Tamil Nadu Government has approved for a special show at 9 am which will be a boost for the cast and crew who have already made a thorough promotion campaign across the nation. Kamal Hassan also stated that he is not going to release any apology statement as his opinion was not a mistake but a misunderstanding.
