‘Tourist Family’ released on 1 May 2025 with a fabulous ensemble – Sasikumar, Simran, Mithun Jai Shankar, Yogi Babu, Kamalesh Jagan and others have surged an immense appreciation and box office collection from the first week. The movie’s digital rights were sold to Jio Hotstar and was supposed to get the usual 4 week release window, but is likely to get delayed now.
The Sasikumar starrer might be delaying the digital release due to the makers having decided to extend the theatrical venture. Released along with big releases such as Retro and Hit 3, ‘Tourist Family’ on its first day amassed a meagre 2 crores while the first week accumulated 50 crores in Tamil Nadu.
‘Tourist Family’ hardly got promotions as audiences kept on flocking to the theatre after word of mouth got out of the feel good comedy entertainer that surfed past Suriya’s Retro’s box office collection.
Now the OTT release of Tourist Family is said to be extended by at least a week, from its initial release on 21 May. Industry tracker Sridhar Pillai said that the date is expected to extend to 28 May 2025, a decision that is also supported by the OTT network, Jio Hotstar.
While there are no official confirmations have been posted or revealed about the delay or on the digital release by the makers. Malayalam movie ‘Thudarum’ from Tharun Moorthy and has Mohanlal and Shobana reuniting after years is also said to be extending its OTT release window.
Tourist Family currently has 53.66 crores standing strong against the new releases that are taking up the space both in the theatres and digital space. The movie is produced by Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment.
