IPL 2025: Harry Brook Banned from IPL for Two Years – Here’s Why?

While Brook expressed remorse to the franchise and its supporters, this is unlikely to sit well with Delhi Capitals who had retained him despite the fact that he had withdrawn from the tournament once before.

England batter Harry Brook has been banned from participating in the Indian Premier League for the next two seasons according to the new policy from the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The decision was communicated officially to the ECB and Brook himself.

According to the regulation recently adopted by the IPL, any cricketer who registered for the auction and was picked yet later withdrew from the league before it commenced would be served with a two-year ban including not being allowed in any future auctions.

Brook was signed by the Delhi Capitals for 6.25 crore rupees in the auction last November but later he withdrew from IPL 2025 explaining that he was committed to England cricket and had to recharge following a hectic schedule.

Last year, he withdrew after his grandmother passed away. While Brook expressed remorse to the franchise and its supporters, this is unlikely to sit well with Delhi Capitals who had retained him despite the fact that he had withdrawn from the tournament once before. With the tournament beginning on March 22nd 2025, this decision reaffirms the BCCI’s resolve with regard to player commitment ensuring the team is not left in a lurch.
