Google Offers Indian Students One Year Of AI Plus Free With Gemini Omni And 400GB Storage

Google has opened a new student offer in India, giving eligible college students 12 months of Google AI Plus at no charge. The plan includes Gemini Omni, twice the Gemini usage limits available to non-AI subscribers, and 400GB of cloud storage. The offer can be redeemed until December 31, 2026, subject to verification and Google’s eligibility rules.

Gemini is also getting a student hub, study notebooks, interactive 3D visualisations and Deep Research inside Gemini Live. Google is expanding exam tools across Search and Gemini too, with features relevant to JEE, NEET, GRE and other tests. The details are available in Google’s official India announcement.

What Are The Key Highlights Of Google AI Plus Free For Students?

Google’s official India announcement confirms that eligible college students can claim Google AI Plus for one year without paying the subscription fee.

  • Indian students get Google AI Plus free for 12 months.
  • The plan includes Gemini Omni and 2x higher Gemini usage limits.
  • Users receive 400GB across Gmail, Drive and Google Photos.
  • The offer must be redeemed by December 31, 2026.
  • Google is separately offering up to 70% off a Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium bundle in eligible markets.

Google currently lists AI Plus in India at ₹399 per month. Its student offer terms say the membership may move to the applicable standard monthly price after the free period unless cancelled.

Who Can Claim The Free Google AI Plus Student Offer In India?

Google’s student offer terms set a minimum age of 16. A student must be enrolled at a higher education institution in a country where Google AI Plus is supported, which includes India.

Students may need to verify their status using a valid college or university email address. They also need a personal Google Account and a Google Payments account with a qualifying payment method. The offer cannot be claimed through a school-issued Workspace for Education account.

There are exclusions. Google says users with an active Google One subscription do not qualify. People in a Google family group, enterprise purchasers, some discounted Pixel bundle subscribers, and users paying for Google One through certain third parties are also excluded.

Students can start from the official Gemini student hub. A payment method is required because recurring billing may begin after the free year. Unless local law requires fresh consent, Google says the saved payment method can be charged the standard monthly price once the 12-month offer ends. Cancellation is available before that happens.

What Do Students Get With Gemini Omni And Higher Limits?

The biggest addition is Gemini Omni access. Google introduced Omni at I/O 2026 as a multimodal model built to create output from different input formats, starting with video. AI Plus also brings more access to Pro models, Deep Research, image and video generation, Gemini in Gmail, and expanded Gemini Notebook features. The 400GB storage pool is shared across Gmail, Google Drive and Google Photos.

Google describes the AI Plus allowance as 2x higher usage than the free tier, not unlimited access. Limits can still vary by feature and capacity. Google’s support pages also caution that generative AI can return inaccurate results, so academic claims, calculations, and citations still need checking before submission.

How Does Google’s New Student Push Help With JEE, NEET And College Study?

Gemini’s student hub can bring study notebooks, flashcards and practice quizzes into one place. Study notebooks can use uploaded class material, run a diagnostic quiz, spot weaker areas and build shorter lessons around them. Google says the system can also place exam and assignment dates from a syllabus into Google Calendar with permission.

Interactive visualisations can create custom tables, graphs and 3D simulations. Gemini Live is also gaining Deep Research, allowing students to start a longer research task, leave the chat and return when Gemini sends a completion notification.

For Indian exam preparation, Google has already introduced no-cost JEE Main practice tests and NEET UG practice tests in Gemini. Its wider 2026 education rollout also covers GRE and ACT preparation. Sundar Pichai highlighted the expanded test-prep push on his official X account, pointing to Search support for exams including JEE and NEET.

The offer also lands in a fast-growing student market. Google said in January that India led the world in daily Gemini usage for learning. Indian users had also generated more than 3 million NotebookLM outputs in the previous month. The free AI Plus year now gives eligible college students a higher-limit entry into that study ecosystem.
