A pending traffic challan does not guarantee a discount at Delhi’s next Lok Adalat. Vehicle owners must first check eligibility and book an appointment. The National Lok Adalat is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026, and online challan-slip downloads will be available from October 19.
Delhi Traffic Police allows 50,000 downloads daily, capped at 2 lakh overall. Registration may therefore close before October 24.
Key Highlights
- Hearing date: October 25, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm.
- Token download window: October 19–24, subject to availability.
- Daily limit: 50,000 challans/notices; overall limit: 2 lakh.
- Only eligible compoundable traffic cases can be settled.
- You must obtain an online slip before visiting the assigned court.
Delhi Lok Adalat Date, Court Locations and Token Limits
The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) moved the September 12 sitting to October 10, then to October 25 after October 10 became a court working day.
Traffic challans will be heard at seven district court complexes: Tis Hazari, Karkardooma, Patiala House, Rohini, Saket, Dwarka and Rouse Avenue. Other eligible disputes will also be heard at the Delhi High Court and tribunals.
The appointment slip determines which complex and session to attend. Slots may fill before registration closes.
The DSLSA also confirmed the sitting in an October 17 post on X. The announced cap counts challans and notices, not necessarily distinct vehicle owners; one motorist may have more than one pending case.
Which Delhi Traffic Challans Qualify for Lok Adalat?
Only compoundable violations, which the law permits to be settled, qualify. Non-compoundable offences are excluded. An unpaid challan alone is insufficient.
There is a date discrepancy. The DSLSA’s September 9 notification says compoundable traffic challans pending on the Virtual Court portal up to June 30, 2026 can be taken up. However, the traffic-police booking portal has displayed a narrower notice referring to challans or notices issued up to March 31, 2026.
Use the booking portal to test eligibility. For example, a challan dated May 2026 falls within the DSLSA cutoff, but that alone does not guarantee a printable slip. If it is missing, consult the latest police advisory or DSLSA before travelling.
Official instructions allow up to five notices and two challans per private vehicle, versus one each for commercial vehicles, where fines must be below ₹10,000.
How to Register and Download a Delhi Lok Adalat Token
Open the Delhi Traffic Police official Lok Adalat portal. The police also provide step-by-step instructions.
- Enter the vehicle registration number and the displayed captcha.
- Verify the OTP sent to the mobile number registered with the vehicle.
- Review the eligible challans and notices shown after verification.
- Select the cases, an available court complex and a forenoon or afternoon slot.
- Read the undertaking about not contesting the challan through Virtual Courts, then submit.
- Download and print the challan slip and appointment acknowledgement.
If no number is registered, use Update Vehicle Owner Mobile Number on the portal.
Save the slip: a reprint option is available after OTP verification. If the court complex or session is inconvenient, choose another available option while booking; do not assume an appointment can be transferred at the court gate.
What Happens at the Hearing and Can Fines Be Waived?
A Lok Adalat settles eligible disputes, but it does not promise zero-rupee fines. Reductions may occur, although there is no uniform waiver rate or guaranteed concession.
On October 25, arrive at the court complex specified on your slip. Bring:
- A printed appointment acknowledgement and challan slip.
- Vehicle registration certificate and driving licence.
- A photo ID and relevant challan details.
- Any authorisation needed if a representative attends.
Retain your settlement receipt and verify the status. The Virtual Courts portal is relevant for cases already transferred to court, while the Lok Adalat appointment comes from Delhi Traffic Police.
If you miss the hearing, police instructions require fresh booking for a later Lok Adalat.
FAQs
When is the next Delhi traffic Lok Adalat in 2026?
It is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 10 am to 4 pm. Motorists must attend the court and session assigned on their challan slip.
Is a Delhi Lok Adalat token free to download?
The official appointment process does not require a private agent. Use the Delhi Traffic Police portal directly and avoid third-party websites or intermediaries promising guaranteed fine reductions.
Can a challan issued after June 30, 2026 be settled?
The current DSLSA notification covers compoundable challans pending by June 30, 2026. Later cases are not included under that stated cutoff for the October sitting.
What if I cannot receive the Lok Adalat OTP?
The mobile number must be linked to the vehicle record. Use the portal’s update option before retrying, or contact Delhi Traffic Police for assistance with registration.
Will Delhi Lok Adalat cancel my entire traffic fine?
No automatic cancellation applies. A bench considers eligible cases individually, and any reduction depends on the offence, applicable rules and settlement reached during proceedings, not merely the token.
