Emily Cooper is back, and this time she is not only taking her adventures in Paris beyond France. At long last, Netflix has begun production on Emily in Paris Season 5, beginning first in Rome and later returning to Paris this summer. Lily Collins, starring as Emily, announced the news via a selfie on Instagram, and a behind-the-scenes video in which co-star Eugenio Franceschini appears gives fans the first impression of the background, i.e., the Eternal City. Featuring new cast and fan faves along with a love triangle that gets hotter, Season 5 will embrace the glamour of the romance, drama, and international flair.

Filming Begins in Rome with Returning Cast
Producer Darren Star showed himself excited by the upcoming season, saying that it was exciting to go from Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins. Season 5, post-production and planned to premiere at the end of 2025, starts with Emily in Rome, opening a new office of Agence Grateau. The show will seek to take advantage of her new Italian storyline, but will not forego Paris later on in the season, thus satisfying the fans with both stories.
The cast is solid still as Collins is joined by Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Ashley Park (Mindy), Lucas Bravo (Gabriel), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc), William Abadie (Antoine), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie), Eugenio Franceschini (Marcello), and Thalia Besson (Genevieve). Additionally, Paul Forman (Nico) and Arnaud Binard (Laurent) are included.
The glamorous series features a fresh cast, with Michèle Laroque taking on the role of Yvette, a longtime friend of Sylvie, alongside the character of Jake, an expatriate from America, living in Paris, played by Bryan Greenberg. The largest new name may be that of Academy Award nominee Minnie Driver, who will take on the role of Princess Jane, a friend of Sylvie who had married a prince. Everything is happening as Season 5 is set to introduce significant changes involving Emily.
Love Triangles and New Adventures
Season 4 concluded with a new romance with Italian fashion heir Marcello, as well as Emily feeling content in her Roman apartment. But as she is about to do so, her lifelong neighbor and complex love interest, Gabriel, makes a late revelation: he wants to be with her still. And since Emily has a heart torn between Marcello and Gabriel, Season 5 will dig deep into the possibilities of whether she can get over it or not, or whether Paris and Gabriel will always be calling her back.
Collins has given her enthusiasm regarding the new phase of Emily’s romantic life, as she wishes her character to get a better work-life balance and opportunity to “smile without condition”. Darren Star assured the development of Emily and Marcello’s relationship will be further established and foreshadowed the troublesome nature that the revelation of Gabriel will cause.
The popularity of the show cannot be denied, and Season 4 premiered at the top of the Netflix Global Top 10 and received almost 20 million views within a week. Blending the classic fashion, cross-continental locations, and love story drama, Emily in Paris Season 5 is already developing into one of the most enviable releases in 2025.
