India’s southwest monsoon has opened September with intense thunderstorm activity over eastern India, with dense cloud clusters developing across West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. A well-marked low-pressure area is expected to move west-northwest, bringing heavy rain risks to Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and later Delhi-NCR.
