Royal Enfield has priced the Classic 650 Hypershift at ₹4,25,589 (ex-showroom), nearly ₹58,000 above the regular Hotrod. Buyers do not get a faster engine or upgraded suspension. The changes are mainly visual.
The anniversary motorcycle celebrates 125 years since Royal Enfield’s first bike in 1901. Here are the price gap, unchanged specifications, and October 28 sale details.
Key Highlights
- Hypershift costs ₹4,25,589; regular Classic 650 starts at ₹3,67,592.
- Only 125 Hypershift motorcycles are allocated to India.
- Both versions retain the 647.95cc twin-cylinder engine.
- The special edition has hand-painted pinstripes and anniversary badges.
- Registered buyers can try purchasing through the Royal Enfield app on October 28.
Classic 650 Hypershift vs Standard: Price Difference in India
The regular Classic 650 has three variants. Hypershift costs more, without improved performance.
| Variant | Ex-Showroom Price | Extra Over Hotrod |
| Classic 650 Hotrod (Vallam Red/Bruntingthorpe Blue) | ₹3,67,592 | — |
| Classic 650 Classic (Teal) | ₹3,72,427 | ₹4,835 |
| Classic 650 Chrome (Black Chrome) | ₹3,82,097 | ₹14,505 |
| Classic 650 Hypershift | ₹4,25,589 | ₹57,997 |
The difference versus the most expensive regular Black Chrome is ₹43,492. Those are ex-showroom figures. Road tax, insurance, and registration will push the final on-road amount higher, depending on the buyer’s location.
The same engine is available for substantially less. The premium instead covers the factory finish and anniversary detailing.
What Is Different About the Hypershift Paint and Equipment?
‘Hypershift’ describes the paint, not a clutchless gearshift system. A brass-inspired undercoat and a specialised finish change the visible shades between red, green and gold as the viewing angle and light shift.
The official Hypershift page identifies several additions:
- A gilded 125-year crest and commemorative side-panel badges.
- Hand-painted pinstripes instead of ordinary production graphics.
- A premium quilted leather rider’s seat.
- A pillion seat supplied in the box rather than already installed.
Regular colours are Vallam Red, Bruntingthorpe Blue, Teal and Black Chrome. The standard pillion seat comes pre-fitted.
Royal Enfield says 625 Hypershift motorcycles were produced for selected global markets. 125 are allocated to India. Scarcity does not guarantee future resale appreciation.
Does the Hypershift Ride Differently From the Regular Classic 650?
Mechanically, no meaningful change has been announced. Both use Royal Enfield’s 647.95cc parallel-twin, delivering 34.6kW at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm at 5,650rpm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox and wet multi-plate clutch. There is no automatic transmission upgrade hidden behind the Hypershift name.
The regular Classic 650’s specifications include a 43mm telescopic front fork, twin rear shocks, dual-channel ABS and an 800mm seat height. It has a 14.8-litre fuel tank. The manufacturer’s specifications list 243kg kerb weight for the standard motorcycle; Royal Enfield has not published a separate measured weight or fuel-efficiency advantage for the anniversary edition.
No performance advantage has been announced.
How to Register for the October 28 Sale in India
Unlike a normal showroom purchase, the Hypershift goes through a one-time app-based drop. Registration began October 16 at 2 pm IST; the sale opens October 28 at 7pm IST. Royal Enfield specifies the Drop Zone in its app, not the website, for Indian customers.
- Register in the Royal Enfield app before sale day.
- Return at the announced time and attempt to secure an allocated motorcycle.
- If successful, pay ₹20,000 through the app as the booking amount.
- Pay the balance to the dealership chosen during registration.
The booking payment is non-refundable, including if a customer cancels. Only the first 125 registered participants who complete the booking payment can secure an Indian unit. The company says deliveries take 60–120 days from booking, with deliveries beginning in November 2026.
Those who want the riding experience without a limited-edition premium have the standard Classic 650. For collectors, the finish and 125-unit Indian allocation are the draw. Read the official booking conditions before paying.
