Bihar is preparing to set up a women-only university with an unusual promise: women will not just study there; they will run the institution too. Higher education received another push through the Chief Minister Balika PhD Fellowship. Around 1,000 women scholars are set to receive ₹10,000 every month for four years. Choudhary said only about 600 women were among roughly 4,600 people pursuing PhDs in Bihar.
A day earlier, Bihar launched the Bihar Ki Beti Startup Challenge, with financial support ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh for eligible women entrepreneurs. The state also rolled out 4,700 two-wheelers for “Police Didi” personnel working on women’s safety around schools and colleges.
Education reforms are moving elsewhere too. The new Bihar Vidya Saathi platform covers around three lakh students in 700 model schools, while TRE-4 is planned as a single-phase teacher recruitment examination.
