CBSE LOC Correction 2026–27: How Parents Can Check Name, Date of Birth and Subject Details When Only Schools Can Make Changes Online

CBSE has opened the List of Candidates correction process for Classes 10 and 12 for the 2026–27 session. Parents can check their child’s submitted details, but schools must make the online corrections.

The board’s November 2 notice covers errors in names, date of birth, and subjects. There is also a deadline discrepancy in the printed schedule, making it essential to confirm the closing date with the school rather than relying on a forwarded message.

Key Highlights

  • Ask the school for the student’s LOC data verification slip.
  • Check personal particulars and the exact subjects entered.
  • Report errors in writing and request confirmation after correction.

CBSE LOC Correction 2026–27: Check the Deadline Carefully

The original LOC notification specifies November 2–4, 2026. However, the November 2 correction circular prints “07.11.2025” as the closing date, creating a conflict as well as a wrong-year entry.

Reports interpret the later date as November 7, 2026. Schools should confirm the operative deadline through their LOC portal or CBSE Regional Office. Parents should submit requests immediately, preferably before November 4.

The board says no further correction opportunity will follow this window. Submit the request immediately; do not wait for the final day while the date is being clarified.

Compare the Verification Slip With Existing Records

Ask for the actual data submitted for your child, rather than assuming an earlier admission form matches the final LOC entry.

DetailWhat Parents Should Check
Student’s nameFull spelling, name order and surname
Parents’ or guardian’s namesEach relevant entry, including spelling
Date of birthDay, month and year
SubjectsExact subject names and corresponding codes

CBSE advises using expanded names rather than short forms and checking passport details where a passport has been issued. Its notice also draws attention to surnames for students planning to go abroad.

During the review:

  • Read names letter by letter instead of checking only the first name.
  • Compare the date of birth with the records held by the school.
  • Ask the subject teacher to confirm any unfamiliar subject label or code.

If records show different spellings, send them to the school and ask how to resolve the discrepancy. Do not invent a new version to make documents match.

Send a Specific Correction Request to the School

Parents do not have to navigate the school’s authorised login. Their part is to identify the error and provide the information needed to check it.

A useful written request should:

  • Identify the student’s class, section and school admission number.
  • Show the incorrect entry exactly as it appears.
  • State the requested correction beside it.
  • Include the relevant supporting record and ask for acknowledgement.

For example, if the birth month is wrong but the day and year are correct, identify that field explicitly. “Please correct the date of birth” leaves staff to work out which part needs changing.

CBSE’s September guidance on demographic corrections asks schools to check demographic details against their Admission and Withdrawal Register and obtain written parental confirmation. Its October reminder again stresses verification before LOC finalisation.

A subject-entry correction needs the school to verify the intended entry. It does not provide unrestricted permission to choose a new subject.

Get Confirmation After the School Makes the Change

An acknowledgement shows that the school received the request. It does not, by itself, show that the submitted LOC now carries the correction.

Request the updated particulars or written confirmation identifying the corrected field. Read the full entry again, including neighbouring family-name fields.

The current exercise corrects submitted examination data. CBSE also has separate procedures concerning demographic corrections and certificates, so families should not postpone a known error on the assumption that every later correction will be straightforward.

If the school cannot resolve a mismatch, ask the principal to seek guidance from the relevant Regional Office. Use the official CBSE circulars page for notices.

Complete the checks now and follow up with the school until the corrected entry is confirmed.

FAQs

Can parents correct CBSE LOC details online themselves?

No. The online correction facility is operated through schools. Parents should inspect the submitted particulars, report errors, and provide supporting records to the authorised school staff.

What should parents do about the closing-date error?

Submit the request immediately and ask the school to verify its portal deadline. The original November 4 deadline conflicts with the newer notice’s incorrectly printed date.

Does every student need a passport for LOC verification?

The notice asks families to compare passport details if a passport has already been issued. It does not require every student to obtain one for this check.

Can students change subjects through the correction window

The notice allows correction of wrongly entered subjects. A request to select a different subject needs the school’s assessment under applicable rules, rather than automatic approval.

How can parents confirm that a correction is complete?

Request the updated particulars or written confirmation from the school. Compare the corrected field again and retain the acknowledgement alongside the supporting documents you originally supplied.
