IIT Bombay awarded a record 620 PhD degrees during 2025-26, the highest annual PhD total reported by any IIT. At the same time, the institute is enforcing a clearer doctoral timeline, with regular PhD registration generally limited to six years and extensions capped at eight years for most scholars.
