ISRO is preparing to launch EOS-05 aboard GSLV-F17 on September 4, 2026, marking India’s first imaging satellite designed for geosynchronous orbit. Positioned roughly 36,000 km above Earth after its planned orbit-raising manoeuvres, EOS-05 is intended to provide frequent, wide-area observations of India and nearby regions. Its major advantage is repeat coverage for applications such as disaster monitoring, agriculture and environmental observation.

Larsen & Toubro, Adani Group, JSW, Mahindra and other Indian companies are reportedly considering ISRO’s LVM3 technology-transfer opportunity, potentially opening the door to private manufacturing and commercial operation of India’s heaviest operational launcher. The selected company or consortium could receive end-to-end know-how covering propulsion, avionics, manufacturing, testing, integration and launch operations.

ISRO is preparing for a possible September 4, 2026, launch of GISAT-1A, or EOS-05, aboard GSLV-F17 from Sriharikota. The mission would mark ISRO’s return to launches from Indian soil after the January PSLV-C62 setback and could strengthen India’s ability to monitor floods, cyclones, fires and other rapidly changing events.

India is targeting 2028 for the launch of BAS-01, the first module of the planned Bharatiya Antariksh Station. The five-module space station is expected to become operational by 2035, with Gaganyaan and SpaDeX developing key technologies needed for crewed missions, docking and long-duration research in orbit.

ISRO is targeting eight launch-vehicle missions and 12 satellite missions during FY 2026-27, with GISAT-1A, the next NavIC satellite and the first uncrewed Gaganyaan flight among the key missions ahead. ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan also said around 8,000 Gaganyaan-related tests have been completed.
