ISRO is preparing for a possible September 4, 2026, launch of GISAT-1A, or EOS-05, aboard GSLV-F17 from Sriharikota. The mission would mark ISRO’s return to launches from Indian soil after the January PSLV-C62 setback and could strengthen India’s ability to monitor floods, cyclones, fires and other rapidly changing events.

ISRO is targeting eight launch-vehicle missions and 12 satellite missions during FY 2026-27, with GISAT-1A, the next NavIC satellite and the first uncrewed Gaganyaan flight among the key missions ahead. ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan also said around 8,000 Gaganyaan-related tests have been completed.

GISAT-1A, also known as EOS-05, is an Earth-observation satellite expected to be launched aboard a GSLV Mk II from Sriharikota in September 2026, potentially ending ISRO’s seven-month launch gap.
