JEE Main 2027 Revised Exam Dates: Session 1 Scheduled For January 20–28, Session 2 From April 2–7

Preparing for the January entrance test? The JEE Main 2027 revised exam dates need a closer look: Session 1 falls on January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 28, rather than every day between January 20 and 28. Session 2 is scheduled for April 2–7, 2027, according to the National Testing Agency’s revised calendar.

Registration for the January session is already open. NTA’s October 24 application notice sets November 22, 2026, at 11:50 pm as the deadline for submission and successful fee payment without a late fee.

Key Highlights

  • January examinations cover six listed dates.
  • April examinations run from April 2 to 7.
  • Submit the January application and pay by November 22 to avoid the late charge.
  • A separate late application window carries an additional ₹500 charge.

JEE Main 2027 Revised Exam Dates: What Has Changed?

The revised NTA examination calendar, published on October 26, lists the following schedule:

SessionExamination DatesListed Examination Days
Session 1January 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28, 2027Six
Session 2April 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7, 2027Six

The September calendar had proposed January 22–24 and January 28–30, with January 31 as a buffer. The revised January schedule therefore starts two days earlier, removes January 29–30, and no longer lists that buffer date.

For someone whose revision timetable ended on January 21, that change requires an adjustment. Final revision should finish ahead of the earliest listed examination date.

NTA labels the calendar dates tentative. The six-day schedule also does not assign every applicant six examinations; individual dates and shifts must be read from the candidate’s examination documents.

Registration Deadlines And The ₹500 Late Fee

The official Session 1 application notice separates ordinary registration, late submission, and corrections:

  • Without late fee: Apply and complete payment by November 22, 2026, at 11:50 pm.
  • With late fee: November 23–26, with an additional ₹500 above the applicable examination fee.
  • Application corrections: November 27–29, closing at 11:50 pm.

These windows serve different purposes. An applicant who has not submitted a form should use the registration period rather than treating the correction window as extra application time.

Payment deserves a separate check. NTA’s 2027 information bulletin says the confirmation page is generated after successful fee payment. A bank debit alone is therefore insufficient evidence that the application is complete. Save the confirmation page and transaction reference together. If payment succeeds but the page remains unavailable, follow the bulletin’s payment grievance procedure.

For application difficulties, the notice provides 011-40759000, 011-69227700 and [email protected]. Keep the application number ready when describing a problem.

City Slips, Admit Cards And Planning The Next Attempt

The bulletin schedules the January city intimation slip for December 30, 2026, followed by admit cards on January 13, 2027. For April, the corresponding dates are March 12 and March 25.

A family arranging travel has two decisions to make: identifying the destination and confirming the actual journey. Avoid booking around an assumed January 28 examination simply because it appears last in the calendar.

The revised dates call for a few practical changes:

  • Finish revision ahead of January 20. Leave time after the last full-length mock to work through questions answered incorrectly or left unfinished.
  • Add school dates to the same calendar. A practical examination or assessment close to JEE Main may reduce the hours available for final preparation.
  • Set separate application reminders. Keep submission, payment, and correction deadlines visible even when the study timetable changes.

April registration overlaps with January preparation. The bulletin provisionally places Session 2 registration between January 5 and February 3, 2027. That application period begins before the January examinations, so applicants considering April should track its separate notice while preparing for Session 1.

Open the official JEE Main portal, save the current notices, and complete the application checks now. Use the revised dates for planning, then confirm your allotted examination details when NTA releases them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it compulsory to appear in both JEE Main 2027 sessions?

No. NTA permits candidates to appear in either session or both. Taking January does not make the April attempt compulsory under the published 2027 examination rules.

Does January registration automatically cover the April session?

January applicants must separately apply and pay for April using their existing application number. NTA will issue a separate notice when the Session 2 application process opens.

Will NTA combine the best subject scores from both attempts?

For candidates taking both sessions, ranking uses the better total NTA score. It does not combine the strongest individual subject scores from January and April attempts.

Which Class 12 passing years are eligible for JEE Main 2027?

Applicants who completed Class 12 or its equivalent in 2025 or 2026 may appear, as may those taking it in 2027. Colleges apply their own admission criteria.

Where will my exact examination shift and centre be listed?

The admit card carries your allotted date, shift, examination centre, and timing. Use those details for travel arrangements; the calendar lists dates for the entire session.
